IN CONVERSATION WITH: NINA MA'BELLE
We sat down with Nina Ma'Belle the Founder of Nina Ma'Belle Weddings to talk about her beauty rituals and advice for planning your big day.
Tell us a little bit about you.
I’m a proud mother of three, wife and run two businesses: Nina Ma’Belle Weddings, which is an event planning company, and WEDIT, an online wedding registry service. I grew up all over the place - Broome, North Queensland, Indonesia and moved to Perth at the end of primary school, and these experiences and living in different cultures at a young age have shaped who I am today. I love all things bridal, I adore being around kids, I am obsessed with horses and I have a passion for cooking & entertaining at home with my family.
What is your morning routine?
My morning routine usually starts with exercise. I love my 6am Pilates class and enjoy the quiet peaceful time before the 3 children wake up. My husband always has a tea ready for me by the time I get home, and there is nothing more I am looking forward to than that first sip of tea (Yorkshire Gold with milk). My skincare routine is fairly simple, always focussing heavily on ingestible beauty rather than mounds of different creams and lotions. I always cleanse, gua sha (I never miss a day) and prep my skin carefully with my favourite Rationale (#1, #3 are some of my favs) products followed by a bit of Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops to start my day. I am ready to take on the world!
What is your evening routine?
My evening routine is so important to me. After putting the three kids to bed, I always double cleanse, put on some Rationale (I love and #6 at night) and have a nice shower. Get into my favourite Bond Street PJ’s, slippers, dressing gown and pour myself a cup of herbal tea (anything by Pukka). I always have 2 pieces of dark chocolate and snuggle up on the couch. I use lavender oil on my pillows and have a strict rule of no phones in the bedroom. I find that this allows us to have the most peaceful sleeps (until a child wakes up…).
What is your PEARL ritual?
My PEARL Ritual is that quiet moment around 9:30am after school drop off when I am about to get stuck into work. The house is empty and peaceful and I pour myself a double PEARL Matcha with just water. The revitalising feeling is second to none. It really prepares me up for a great day of clarity. You will also find me repeating this at about 2:30pm before school pick up.
What is your beauty advice for brides in the lead up to their wedding day?
Invest in a simple routine that you can commit to. Consistency is key. Don’t try any new products a couple of months out from your wedding, any skincare really needs to start around 8 months before. I would highly recommend seeing your favourite clinician, I go to Dr.Clara Hurst at Blanc Skin to discuss any treatment plans you can do to prep your skin before your wedding. I would also say that your diet and exercise is extremely important to your skin health, really try and take note of what you're ingesting. However, in the end your smile really is one of the most beautiful things you can wear on your wedding day.
What beauty and styling trends are brides loving this year?
We will be seeing a lot of dramatic draping, silverware, vintage styling and wedding websites. Quiet, old world luxury is here to stay. In terms of beauty, I think that less is more approach is always a front runner, natural glam.
What advice would you give to someone starting to plan their wedding?
Make sure you and your partner are crystal clear with your vision and approach to your wedding before you begin discussing it with family and friends. Once you are on the same page, look for your venue and decide the time of year you want to get married. This will really dictate a lot, like the guest list and style of wedding. The most authentic, fun and memorable weddings are the ones that really reflect you both as a couple. Stay focused on what you both like, don’t try and please everyone, it will work in your favour.
I am happiest when.... horse riding.
I calm my nervous system by... going for a walk along the river, every day.
I'm currently watching / reading / listening… I love a good documentary. The last one I watched was Senna, that was probably the 5th time though!
In my handbag you'll find.... air pods, a hairbrush, tatcha lip gloss and my mecca max lip liner in ‘chic’. A polished lip can get you places.
My 3 favourite beauty products are... The Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops, Weleda Skin Food - for that old school dewy base, Gua Sha and a beautiful face oil, the Royal Oil by Heartwood is a dream. I never ever miss a Gua Sha before any event or going out at night, it makes you look so awake and refreshed.
The best beauty advice I have been given...Inner confidence creates outer radiance.
